Unauthorized roadside parking banned in Kohima

Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, has issued an order prohibiting unauthorized roadside parking along the stretch from Assamese Church Junction to National Highway-29 Junction under Ward-18, following a joint inspection conducted on December 4, 2025, by the Sector Magistrate and ward authorities.
According to the directive, rampant roadside parking has been causing significant traffic congestion, prompting the administration to enforce strict restrictions with immediate effect.
Parking of vehicles within the Right of Way (RoW) along the identified stretch has been banned, and violators will have their vehicles towed at the owner’s expense and penalized under relevant legal provisions.
The order further directed Kohima Traffic Police to install necessary signages and barricades to ensure effective enforcement of the restriction.
