We have seen that there is a demand in the hospitality sector for the young people from the north east in different parts of the country. We could see youths from north eastern states working in different hotels, reports across India. Most of these youths are trained through different programmes and then they are placed. We have less people from our region in bigger positions or in the managerial positions which need to be explored and one may join such posts when they have required academic qualifications.
All those who are dreaming to be successful in this field may choose courses like the B.Sc. (Hospitality & Hotel Administration) Programme. This academic programme is available at different affiliated Institutes which is offered by the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) and recognized by JNU, Delhi. NCHMCT which is an autonomous body under Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India offers admission in Bachelor of Science in Hospitality and Hotel Administration in the NCHMCT’s affiliated Institutes.
IHM most commonly refers to the Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, a network of prestigious hospitality training colleges across India, sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. IHM Guwahati and IHM Shillong are considered as Central IHMs and IHM Gangtok under State IHM. State IHM in Agartala and Dimapur is run under PPP mode. There are private IHMs too in different parts of the country but aspirants must look at the credibility of the institutions before taking admission in any private colleges .
The B.Sc. HHA program equips students with all the required skills, knowledge and attitude to efficiently discharge supervisory responsibilities in the hospitality sector leading to higher level managerial positions with career progression. The program involves operational areas of Food Production, Food & Beverage Service, Front Office Operation and Housekeeping. It also provides managerial inputs in Hotel Accountancy, Food Safety & Quality, Human Resource Management, Facility Planning, Revenue Management, Financial Management, Strategic Management, Tourism Marketing and Management. Option of pursuing a vegetarian program is also available in all the affiliated Institute of Hotel Management.
The NCHM JEE is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA), under the Ministry of Education, Government of India which is conducting the major all India Examination through Computer Based Test (CBT). Admission to the above Course is through the NCHM JEE. The Score of NCHM JEE is accepted by all the affiliated Institutes for admission to the B.Sc. (HHA) Course in their respective Institutes.
A candidate should have passed 10+2 system of Senior Secondary Examination or its equivalent with English as one of the subjects, from a recognized Educational Board. There is no age bar for appearing in the entrance exam. The NCHM JEE shall be conducted through CBT in the following pattern

The registration for NCHM JEE is going on and aspirants may apply for the exam before 25th March and Exam is scheduled on 25th April.
