United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Nagaland organised second round of zone-wise quarterly Regional Review Meeting (RRM) of Vaccine and Cold Chain Managers (VCCM) on September 18 at Chief Medical Officer (CMO) office Dimapur.
A release by CMO Dimapur office stated that UNDP has been working with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in establishing an electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (eVIN) system to improve vaccine and cold chain logistics management across all Cold Chain Points (CCP) in Nagaland since 2016.
It sated that real-time visibility of vaccine stock and flow became visible on September 21, 2016 thereafter, storage temperature was also made visible on May 20, 2017 across all CCPs in Nagaland.
The release stated that to effectively implement eVIN, dedicated VCCM have been assigned for all 11 districts of Nagaland who are co-ordinating and working with the district program officers of each district under government of India’s Universal Immunisation Programme.
On Monday meeting, a power-point presentation was given by project officer UNDP, Imli Longkumer, VCCMs of Dimapur, Peren and Wokha were asked to assess the status and activities of each district for the last quarter (June-August 2017). The meeting was followed by discussion on issues and recommendations to improve cold chain management and UIP.
New developments and features related to eVIN and temperature loggers were shared with the officials by senior project officer UNDP, Kingson Kamkara and the team.
The meeting was attended by CMO Dimapur, Dr. Vikato Kinimi, deputy CMO, Dr. Antoly Swu, DPOUIP-RCH, Dr. Lanuakum, district programme manager, district vaccine store manager and cold chain handler of district hospital Dimapur along with UNDP state officials.
