UNGA President Annalena Baerbock to Visit India

United Nations General Assembly President Annalena Baerbock will make an official visit to India next week at the invitation of the Indian government, her spokesperson La Niece Collins announced. During the trip, Baerbock will hold bilateral meetings with Indian officials and meet the UN team in India led by Resident Coordinator Stefan Priesner. This marks the second high-level UN visit to India in 2026, following Secretary-General Antonio Guterres’ attendance at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi in February.

Baerbock, who previously visited India as Germany’s foreign minister, is familiar with the country and has highlighted its role in shaping the international order. Her past engagements included signing a migration and mobility agreement and accompanying Chancellor Olaf Scholz for German-Indian consultations. As a member of the G4 alongside India, Brazil, and Japan, Germany supports reforming the UN Security Council to add permanent members. From India, Baerbock will continue her tour with a visit to China.
