KOHIMA, SEP 26 (NPN): Officials of the Central Nagaland Tribes Council (CNTC), Tenyimia Union Nagaland (TUN) and Eastern Nagaland People’s Union of Mokokchung (ENPUM), representing the ENPO, visited Ungma Village, Mokokchung, on September 26 to formally acknowledge the land graciously donated to the three bodies by the Ungma Village Council (UVC).
A short reception service was held at the Rongpu Astro Turf in the presence of representatives of the three organizations, Ao Senden, the Village Council, land donors and well wishers. The programme was chaired by UVC secretary Nungsangtemjen.
Hukiye K. Yepthomi, president, CNTC; K. T. Villie, president, TUN; and Y. Among Yimkhiung, president, ENPUM, delivered gratitude and encouragement speeches, followed by an address from Imti Longkumer, general secretary, Ao Senden.
In their addresses, the leaders expressed profound gratitude to the UVC and land donors for the historic gesture, describing it as a first of its kind in Nagaland. They said the donation carried a deeper message of unity, brotherhood and mutual understanding, and emphasised the need for the three organizations to respect and support one another while working collectively for the welfare of the people.
Speaking on behalf of the land donors, Imtidongba Jamir, R. Nungshilepden Jamir, and Imtisungkum Longkumer, Tatars, said the donation was an effort to sow the seed of unity among Nagas. They expressed hope that the seed would grow into something bigger and more meaningful in the years to come. The Tatars encouraged the three organisations to utilise the land at the earliest and assured that it would remain theirs “till the end of time.”
During the function, a special presentation prepared by TUN was carried out, while shawls and sashes were presented to the Village Council and the three organizations.
The land was donated by three clans: Lanusuwa Jamir Clan for CNTC, Shikiyangba Jamir Clan for TUN, and Sentimongba Longkumer Clan for ENPO. It was stated that the land was allotted through a lottery system and not individually chosen by the clans.
Following the programme, the guests were hosted to refreshments arranged by the UVC, after which the delegation inspected the donated land.
The CNTC, TUN and ENPUM expressed gratitude to the UVC, the three land donating clans, Ao Senden and all contributors for making the occasion meaningful and historic.
