Unica FC emerged as the winner of the 2nd Kohima Futsal Championship organised by Kohima District Football Association (KDFA) at Niathu Sports, Khikha, Kohima.
In an exciting match up, Unica FC bested Black Pearls 8-3 to win the title.
A total of eights teams participated in the Championship.
The teams were divided into two groups with Lhouchalie FC Meriema, Kohima Sports Club, Black Pearls and A Yhome FC making up group A and Unica FC, Chüziema FC, Nagabazar Youth Organisation and U Kicha making up group B.
The two groups played a league round where each team played against three other teams.
Following three league rounds, Black Pearls and Unica FC emerged as the team leaders of their respective groups.
Unica FC walked away with a cash prize of Rs 30,000 and citations while Black Pearls bagged Rs 20,000.
Unica will now represent Kohima district in the upcoming Nagaland Futsal Championship to be held at Chümoukedima district from October 17-20.
Participation citations were also awarded to all the participating players.
Championship convenor Seyielhouvi Nagi, KDFA president M Matthew Yhome, vice-president Dzieseneituo Belho and general secretary William Koso handed over the prizes to the winners and participants.
Earlier, an exhibition match was played between the KDFA and Kohima District Athletics Association.
The match went in favour of Kohima District Athletics 8-3 and they walked away with a bounty of Rs 20,000.
The championship trophies were sponsored by Atou Yhome while cash prize for runner-up was sponsored by Neilekho Zutso.
