Union Baptist Church celebrates golden jubilee

Union Baptist Church (UBC), Kohima concluded its two-day golden jubilee celebration Sunday under theme “Generation to Generation Proclaiming His Praise” held at NBCC Convention Centre.


Delivering the message at the devotional service, Rev. Dr.Rachülie Vihienuo executive director Angami Baptist Church Council (ABCC) described the jubilee as a time of happiness for all different communities within the church.


Also a former pastor of UBC , Rev. Dr.Vihienuo , is also the son of the first founder -pastor of UBC late Rev.Deo Vihienuo. He disclosed there are 111 churches under ABCC with around 42,000 members and as the executive director ABCC, extended greetings to UBC from the rest 110 churches.


Dr Vihienuo opined that the formation of UBC must have been in the mid of God as it went through some of the hardest times in its formative stages.
As a member of the UBC since his childhood days, Vihienuo said the church built with Christ who is the chief cornerstone.


Dr.Vihienuo also mentioned about UBC’s mission in spreading the gospel message besides various activities for various age groups. The ABCC executive director noted that human imperfections were the stage for God’s transformation that would lead to the way of the cross, and that the only way to that end was to follow Christ.


He encouraged the gathered believers to portray the life of Christ and help in the extension of God’s kingdom.
Earlier, in his virtual jubilee greetings message, Nagaland Baptist Church Council general secretary Rev Dr Zelhou Keyho said the founding fathers of Christianity in the state had handed down a legacy of faith that should be carried forward to the upcoming generations.


“The church in Nagaland is now 151 years old. As we go through the history of Christianity in our land, we hear the narration of hardships, persecution and miseries. We are what we are today because of those who stood their ground,” he maintained.


He said the pioneers of UBC were led by God to start a church, observing that those who had gathered at the celebration were two-three generations of people celebrating God’s faithfulness. Earlier, former UBC pastor Rev Kenilevi Khate invoked God’s blessings.


Special numbers were presented by UBC Sunday School team; The Beginners( former choir members), Lighthouse (UBKK), Jubilee choir, former band members of Lystra led by Kethoser Kevichüsa, Rev. Vilodi Sakhrie(Pastor TBC Dimapur), Rev. Kedo Peseyie(Pastor City Church), Rev.Dr Rachülie Vihienuo and Naya Jeevan Baptist Church Kohima.


Later, in the afternoon service, message was delivered by itinerant evangelist and Bible teacher Dr KethoserKevichüsa. Messages were also delivered by Pastor Town Baptist Church Dimapur Rev Vilodi Sakhrie and Pastor City Church Kohima Rev Kedo Peseyie respectively.
