Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Ajay Tamta, assured the Centre’s continued support to address local challenges and strengthen the implementation of developmental projects during his official visit to Churachandpur district, Manipur, on Tuesday.
During the visit, Tamta presented awards to five internally displaced persons (IDP) students who excelled in the recent board examinations, underscoring the government’s emphasis on education and support for displaced families. According to a DIPR release, the minister also reviewed social welfare schemes and developmental projects being implemented by district departments, while engaging with the district administration, beneficiaries of government schemes, and members of displaced communities.
On arrival at the district headquarters, the Union MoS was received by Deputy Commissioner Dharun Kumar S, along with district-level officers, representatives of IDPs, and beneficiaries of various government-sponsored social security schemes. A felicitation event was held at the conference hall of the district mini secretariat, where the district administration reiterated its commitment to inclusive growth and welfare.
The programme also witnessed the distribution of benefits under key flagship schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM-FME), Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), and the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). Participants who excelled in competitions organized to mark Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas 2025 were also felicitated.
Special awards were presented to CEO Lalthazam of ADCC, ADC Churachandpur Seiminthang, and two Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP) fellows in recognition of their contributions to local development initiatives.
The felicitation event was followed by a meeting in which the Union minister reviewed the progress of various Central and state-sponsored developmental and social security schemes.
Interacting with officials from multiple departments and aspirational blocks, Tamta appreciated their efforts and assured that the Centre would continue to extend support to address local challenges and strengthen implementation on the ground.
