Various unions, organisations and student body observed their respective jubilees and anniversary with thanksgiving and a prayer, and honouring the founding members and past leaders for their contributions.
Jacob graces Khetoi Village Union Dimapur 25th anniversary
KVUD: Minster PHED Jacob Zhimomi graced the 25th anniversary of Khetoi Village Union Dimapur (KVUD) at NEZCC Stone Garden, 3rd miles on Saturday.
Extending greetings, Jacob emphasized the importance of recognizing and honoring the contributions of the ancestors, whose efforts paved the way for the present.
He recalled how God’s blessings have been instrumental in guiding and sustaining the community throughout the journey.
The minster called for greater cooperation, not just within the community, but also with others. He further called for unity and collaboration, fostering a spirit of mutual respect and understanding to build a stronger and more inclusive society.
Jacob also encouraged the graduates to step out of their comfort zones and not solely focus on government jobs, but to explore available startup programs and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Citing Japan as an example, the minister said people largely rely on the private sector and prioritize organic products and cultivation. He therefore encouraged youths to venture into agriculture to foster self-sufficiency and economic sustainability.
Highlights of the event included release of the souvenir by Jacob Zhimomi and KVUD founding president Akito Zhimomi and dedicatory prayer by Hukavi Baptist Church pastor, Kughahoto I Awomi.
At the programme significance of the celebration was shared by silver jubilee Planning Committee (SJPC) convenor Er Huskha Yepthomi, blessing prayer by Khetoi Baptist Akukuhou pastor Rev. Henito Awomi.
WVSU platinum jubilee celebration concludes

WVSU: The two-day platinum jubilee celebration of Wokha Village Students’ Union (WVSU) concluded on December 28 at Wokha Village Playground under the theme “Resilience.” The event was graced by MLA of 38 A/C, Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe as chief cuest, Dr. Chumben Murry, advisor to chief minister as guest of honour, and Associate Professor Mount Tiyi College Dr. Libemo Kithan, as the theme speaker.
The celebration began with the unveiling and dedication of the jubilee monolith by Y. Mhonbemo Humtsoe and pastor of Wokha Village Baptist Church Rev. O. Thungben Kikon. Humtsoe also hoisted the WVSU flag.
In his address, Humtsoe reflected on the Union’s 75-year journey, marked by challenges and triumphs. He recalled the days when schools lacked proper infrastructure, teachers outnumbered students, and parents prioritized farming over education.
Despite these hardships, he said the union thrived due to its resilience and urged the students to reflect on their own privileges and to surpass the achievements of the previous generation with determination and purpose. He emphasized unity, forgiveness, and striving for excellence as the essence of the jubilee celebration.
Dr. Chumben Murry in his speech termed the occasion an “anniversary” rather than a “jubilee,” noting the term’s traditional association with church event. He praised the Union’s resilience in overcoming 75 years of challenges and urged students to focus not just on earning degrees but also on acquiring the skills needed for success. Acknowledging the competitive and harsh times faced by the current generation, he encouraged self-reflection and improvement.
Theme speaker Dr. Libemo Kithan elaborated on “Resilience” as the ability to face challenges and recover from setbacks. He reflected on the union’s formation, its initial opposition, and the perseverance that has defined its journey. He urged students to refine their character, maintain wellness, and stay committed to the Union’s ideals.
In his presidential address, president of WVSU, Chijamo E. Tungoe, highlighted the Union’s growth since its inception in 1949 by 30 students. He appreciated the contributions of past leaders and reminded the current generation to uphold the Union’s legacy through faith, cultural preservation, and community values. He described the jubilee as a challenge to honour the Union’s roots while striving to improve.
The event included various cultural and commemorative activities. A welcome address was delivered by the Convenor of the Platinum Jubilee Planning Committee, Chibenthung P. Kikon, followed by an invocation by associate pastor of Wokha Village Baptist Church, Nongothung Kikon, and a welcome song by church choir.
A cultural presentation by Liosangsi Cultural Troupe, a special musical performance by Zareni Kithan, and an exhortation by the retired Joint Director School Education, N. Wobenthung Lotha, were key highlights. Tributes were paid to past members, and greetings were extended by the chairman of the Wokha Village Council, Vandan Erui, and secretary finance of the Naga Students’ Federation, Heiko Kent.
The valedictory session was held in the evening, with, District Fishery Officer, Tuensang, Mhomo Murry as the valedictory guest. A special prayer for students was offered by Rev. Dr. Ezamo Murry, followed by a vote of thanks by general secretary of WVSU Nzanthung Kikon, and a benediction by associate pastor of Wokha Village Baptist Church Dr. O. James Kithan.
Dimapur Wozhuro Range Union celebrates golden jubilee

DWRU: Dimapur Wozhuro Range Union (DWRU) on Saturday celebrated golden jubilee by remembering the founding members and past leaders, and sought God’s blessing and vision for the next 25 years.
On the occasion, members of DWRU thanked the Almighty for His blessing and pledged to work collectively, to bring changes and preserve the culture and traditional values.
The jubilee was graced by Dr. E. Motsuthung Patton, principal director of Health and Family Welfare as special guest at Agri Expo, 4th mile Chumoukedima.
Extending greetings, Dr. M. Patton, explained the meaning and celebration of jubilee and called upon the members to give thanks to the Almighty and to the founding members for their sacrifice and contribution in taking the union forward.
As people of Wozhuro range were known by everyone as peace loving, he reminded them to carry forwards the legacy and spread the message of peace and love even to their neigbhours.
Encouraging the members to maintain honesty, he said Nagas known for hardworking and honesty has changed a lot and can be witnessed in Government offices, where only 25 percent of the employees were hardworking.
He therefore emphasized the need for the Naga society to restore and uphold the good tradition of honesty, truthfulness and hardwork maintained by our forefathers.
He further reminded the parents to encourage their children to take up skill development activities as government jobs have reached a saturation point.
Earlier, Dr. M. Patton also unveiled the jubilee monolith, donated by Mrs and Mr. Chumthungo Khuvung family at Diphupar on the land donated to DWRU by former minister late. John Lotha, after a dedicatory prayer by pastor DLBC Thenjamo Tsanglao.
Dr. M. Patton also released the jubilee souvenir.
Special invitees, Dimapur Lotha Hoho chairman, Thungchanthung Murry in his brief greetings, encouraged the union to continue to maintain the peace and harmony among themselves and maintain a good public relation with their immediate neigbhour.
He also lauded DWRU unity and reminded them to thank God for His blessing during the last 50 years.
While, Chumoukedima Lotha Hoho, chairman, Nchumthung Murry called for change which could be achieved through unity and NSF general secretary, Chumben Khuvung recalled the achievements of the range people, which has been recognized by everyone.
On the occasion, DWRU also acknowledged and honoured the 16 founding members. It may be recalled that the union was formed in 1974 by 16 members.
The gathering was enthralled by special performances by Zuchobeni Tungoe Puri model and musician and Alobo Naga multi award winning musician and director Musik-A.
Earlier, members of DWRU observed a one-silent prayer to honour the departed souls.
The programme was led by Er. Y. Bichamo Khuvung convenor, organizing committee and invocation by founding member (1st general secretary), Arhomo Odyuo.
Welcome address was delivered by Tongtiphan Pattton chairman, DWRU, brief history of the union by A. Renbomo Odyuo convenor History committee, jubilee blessing prayer by Rev. Yilobemo Tsanglao pastor Sovima LBC and vote of thanks by Zubenthung Patton conenor Finance committee. The programme was followed by cultural presentation by various groups.
Makhuma Youth Organization celebrates platinum jubilee

MYO: Makhuma Youth Organization (MYO) celebrated its platinum jubilee at Makhuma Ground, Kigwema on Saturday. Addressing the celebration as chief guest, advisor, Medo Yhokha, emphasised the importance of a shared vision between the younger generation and their elders in building a progressive society.
Yhokha highlighted the need to create a sustainable future by preserving natural resources, investing in quality education, and fostering self-reliant economic opportunities. He urged the gathering to reflect on the essence of celebrating jubilees, which, he said, is rooted in honoring the pioneers and elders who laid the foundation for such milestones.
“Without reflecting on the past and learning from our mistakes, we cannot progress,” Yhokha said. He pointed out that jubilees should go beyond celebrations and documentation, calling for a collective vision and actionable steps for a brighter future. He also cautioned against boasting about past achievements, urging the youth to focus on keeping legacies alive and taking up the responsibility to shape the future.
“The 75 years are inked in a souvenir, but writing the next chapters depends on us,” Yhokha asserted. He challenged both the young and old to act as trendsetters and pathfinders in areas like leadership, economy, education, and entrepreneurship. “We must start today and plant seeds for posterity,” he stressed, encouraging the people to adopt a broader mindset for societal transformation.
The event, chaired by Neisalie Neihu, featured blessings invoked by Vilakiezo Yano, secretary of Mission Department, ACRCC, and Khokhrie Neihu, dikon board chairman of Kigwema Baptist Church.
Greetings were delivered by representatives from Kigwema Youth Organization and Kigwema Village Council. Jubilee songs were presented by the Makhuma Choir, Makhuma Women Society, and Shürhovizo Kiso. Vote of thanks was delivered by Khevisa Chale, marking the conclusion of the program.
