Unity key to Naga progress: Patton at ENSF Cultural Fiesta

Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton emphasized the importance of unity for peace and development among the Nagas while addressing the Valedictory Program of the 8th Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) Cultural Fiesta-cum-General Conference 2025, held at Tuensang on April 17.

According to a DIPR report, gracing the event as the chief guest, Patton expressed happiness at being part of a gathering of future leaders of Nagaland. He noted that the fragmentation of Naga society into different groups hampers its growth and prosperity.
Urging the student community to play a positive role in fostering unity, Patton highlighted that true strength lies in collective solidarity.

He also reiterated the Nagaland government’s commitment to the development of Eastern Nagaland under the leadership of chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, pointing to the creation of new districts aimed at grassroots-level progress. Patton called upon the people of Eastern Nagaland to champion progressive change not only in their own region but across the entire state.

Congratulating the newly elected team of ENSF, Patton encouraged them to lead with trust, wisdom, and a spirit of service for the betterment of society.

Honoured guest Imtichoba, MLA in his speech, praised the pioneers of the ENSF for their unwavering dedication to the welfare of Eastern Naga students. He stressed the need for advancement in medicine, communication, and education in the region, while urging students to stay away from drugs and to embrace entrepreneurship and innovation beyond government jobs.

The program featured a welcome address by vice president of ENSF, Sepikyu Sangtam, cultural performances including a Folk Fusion from the Khiamniungan Students’ Union, a short speech by general secretary of ENGOA, Er. Chingmak, and a special presentation by the Eastern Nagaland Sumi Students’ Union. Assistant general secretary of ENSF, Molo Phom also shared his thoughts.

Deputy chief minister Patton was accompanied by Minister of Housing and Mechanical P. Bashangmongba Chang, and advisors K. Konngam Konyak, S. Keoshu Yimchunger, Er. Kropol Vitsu, Sethrongkyu, and MLA Benei M Lamthiu.
