United Naga Tribes Association on Border Areas (UNTABA) Friday unanimously resolved that any agreement (s) on the Indo-Naga political issue should be made on the basis of the historical realities of the land, since the land belongs to the Nagas. In a press statement, UNTABA Imsumongba Pongen and media incharge, Richard Haolai said that the resolution was adopted by the members during the executive committee with advisory board members at Book Marc conference hall.
The members also resolved that Naga people irrespective of different National political affiliations, tribes or organizations should firmly stand on the implementation of ‘9 Point Agreement’ of 1947, in restoring all the traditional and historical Naga territories.
UNTABA has also urged upon the state government to vigorously pursue the fulfillment of Point No. 12 & 13 of the ‘16 Point Agreement’ so as to restore and amalgamate all the Naga territories.
Further, the meeting seriously dwelt on the pending case ‘Civil Suit No. 2 of 1988’ and decided to urge the state government to allow the State Law and Justice Department to handle the case along with the Border Affairs department for all the practical purposes.
At the meeting the house has also unanimously resolved to vigorously pursue the common goal of the Naga people in restoring the historical and traditional Naga territories as committed by the Government of India.
In order to coordinate various workloads of the association, a Joint Action Committee was formed with the eight members.
