United Naga Tribes Association on Border Areas (UNTABA) said it was already prepared to file a Writ Petition in the Supreme Court countering the “Original Suit” as well as to claim the inherent rights of the Naga people over “our” land and its resources in a legal course. In a press release, UNTABA chairman, Hukavi Yepthomi and general secretary Imsumongba Pongen said since state government failed to file a counter suit on the stipulated time as assured to the association it would be filing the writ petition. UNTABA also stated that the current hearing or cross-examination may or may not be final and any likely judgement that may be delivered by the court on the pending Suit should not be accepted by the Naga people as a whole and the people living in and around the border areas.
