Updates on men’s inter-district 1 day tourney final rounds

The Senior Men’s Inter-District One Day Tournament 2024 culminated in thrilling final matches, showcasing outstanding cricket performances at Sovima Cricket Ground and Nagaland Cricket Stadium.
At Sovima Cricket Ground, Niuland beat Chümoukedima by 65 runs in a gripping encounter final round. Sunil Sharma’s stellar performance, scoring 47 runs and claiming 4 wickets for 33 runs, earned him the “Player of the Match” award. Niuland posted a competitive total of 173 runs in 39.4 overs, with Moakumzuk Tzudir contributing 32 runs. In response, Chümoukedima managed to score 108 runs in 34.1 overs, with Jonathan Rongsen top-scoring with 46 runs. However, it wasn’t enough to overcome Niuland’s strong bowling attack led by Sunil Sharma and Vino G Zhimomi.


Meanwhile, at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Mokokchung faced Kohima in an intense showdown. Kohima secured a narrow victory by 1 wicket in the final rounds. Vizalie Shuya’s all-round performance, scoring 25 runs and claiming 5 wickets for 28 runs, earned him the “Player of the Match” title.
Mokokchung set a challenging target of 207 runs in 49.2 overs, with Andrew Ropmay and Menchet Ponggen scoring 69 and 52 runs respectively. However, Kohima chased down the target, reaching 208 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 50 overs, with Khriesavituo Solo and Zidu contributing 39 and 36 runs respectively. Arjun Rai took 5 wickets for 41 runs for Mokokchung, but Kohima’s resilience led them to victory.
