Uphold the past culture: Dr. Nihoshe

Calling upon the Post Graduate students to uphold the cultural activities of the past, parliamentary secretary Industries and Commerce, Dr. K.C. Nihoshe said that the past ethnicity comprised courage, upright justice and oneness. He urged the students not to be lured away by free money or bad morality but work hard to retain the good culture and find out solutions to bring about peace in the Naga society.
Speaking as the chief guest at the 6th Cultural Gala of the Post Graduate Students’ Union under the theme “Towards cultural rejuvenation” at the Ura Academy Hall, Friday, Dr. Nihoshe said that the Naga society lacks peace makers courageous enough to go out to the people. He questioned the courage of the present generation and underlined the need to embrace the courageous nature of the forefathers.
He further said that the present society needs to reinvest the unity and the spirit of oneness of the past. “The beginning of unity starts from the family and the individual”, he added.
Chancellor of NU, Professor K. Kannan encouraged the students to showcase their culture and traditions to the world, and not be confined to their own boundaries.
Delivering the welcome address, president of PGSU, Tinu Kumzuk said that culture was not just about traditional performances or attires, but more so towards honesty, bravery and hard work.
Highlights of the cultural programme included debate , folk songs and dance by ENPGSU, LPGSU, and PGAKT, while a Sema folk tale was performed by the PGSSU. The programme was chaired by Benthunglo from Department of History and Archeology.
