Ura Academy 49th Tenyidie conference at Ura Academy Kohima flagged off on May 29, where the three-day programme was blessed by Kohima Pochury Baptist Church pastor Rev. Zhiwhuotuo Katiry.
Special guest, Rheiliebeiü Shüya in her short speech reminisced back to the days when Ura Academy first started. She opined that English language was good and universal but stressed that people must not forget their own local dialects. She emphasised on giving priority to one’s own local dialect as it would make the individual complete and with a unique identity.
Shüya also reminded that Nagas were one of the best nation and people, having their own dialects, culture, tradition, beautiful attires, whereby she urged that one should not forget one’s roots.
She said that Nagas need to be proud of their heritage and work hard to promote the culture, tradition and history.
During the programme, social media project was introduced with the aim to promote, culture, tradition and history through local dialect. “Avu Nei Hu” a very famous Angami poem, later composed into song was sung by Dziesekhrienuo Keretsü.
Earlier, in the programme chaired by Tenyimia People Organization (TPO) executives, welcome address was delivered by Vitshulieü Sekhose.
The next two-day programme will be chaired by Asanuo Sekhose, Vipralhou Kesiezie Keviuchütuo Kuotsu, Pheluopfelie Kesiezie.
