The Ura Academy hosted the 55th Tenyidie Seminar on May 28, 2025, under the theme “Dieu U Siepetiekeshii” (Reminiscent Language) at Ura Academy, Kohima.
Speaking on behalf of Tenyimi People’s Organisation (TPO), vice president of TPO, CD Jongeo John, highlighted the need for a common language among the Naga people beyond Nagamese and English. However, he acknowledged the challenge of unifying multiple tribal languages. He suggested that Ura Academy include other Tenyimia languages to encourage broader interest and understanding.
John emphasized the Angami community’s role in advancing the Tenyidie language, urging them to integrate all Tenyimia languages to foster unity.
Rev. Khrotso Mero, in his address, encouraged participants to revisit and promote the language, describing it as a blessing. He praised Ura Academy for including Tenyidie in Modern Indian Languages (MIL) and the education curriculum. He urged the publication of more books in Tenyidie and encouraged people to speak their dialects at home and in church.
The event featured a welcome address by Vitshulieü Sekhose, which was chaired by Daso Paphino, vice president of Ura Academy. Rev. Savito Nagi, president of ABCC, led the invocation, while Pesikeshü Kro-u and pastor Peter Sono enriched the program with musical performances.
A Tenyidie book titled “Themia Khunuo Kemevi” (“Were Animal”), written by Kethoselie Zhale, was released by Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu.
