DIMAPUR: Ura Zuveh Foundation, in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), organised a one day basic training programme on human rights at Chesezu village, Phek district on June 13, 2026.
Themed “Children and Elderly Rights: Human Rights Living in Rural Communities”, the programme saw participation from school teachers, village leaders, students and youth leaders. Resource persons included Sekhotso Rokha, Retainer Lawyer, Phek District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), and Vethothi Vero, Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel, DLSA Phek.
According to publicity secretary Vesukho Swuro, the training focused on awareness of rights of children and elderly persons in rural areas, legal safeguards and mechanisms for accessing justice. Four sessions covered topics such as introduction to human rights, POCSO Act, Juvenile Justice Act, child labour laws, reporting mechanisms, rights of elderly under the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, and community based grievance redressal.
The programme emphasized the role of DLSA and legal aid services in ensuring protection and access to justice for vulnerable groups.
