United Sangtam Baptist Lithroti Ashimükhong (USBLA) held its “Clean Election Campaign” meeting on Tuesday at Yangli Mission Centre and adopted 15-point resolution.
Some of the points out of the 15-point resolution are: Shall not use force, intimidation and under influence to the voters; shall not buy votes with money; shall not be involved in booth capturing and any other activities which are unbecoming of a political party; shall not hoist flag or post pamphlet in the church premises, school and public building and shall not provide feasting, picnic, or go for procession.
The meeting was held with official representatives from United Sangtam Likhum Pumji (USLP), United Sangtam Students Council (USSC), Akheda Sangtamlarü Thsingmüjang (AST), church leaders, council chairman and head GBs.
Highlighting the gathering, core committee member of clean election campaign, USBLA, Kijung briefed them about the clean election resolutions. He said the “set of resolutions” was framed with an aim to choose the right and uncorrupted candidate, maintaining spiritual and moral integrity, social and economic accountability.
In his suggestions, USLP president, Yanghopi, said implementing agencies should be formed to execute the resolutions adopted.
AST, president, Thsatila also called upon the gathering to abstain oneself from corruption.
In concluding remarks, USBLA, executive secretary, Rev. C. Lima, urged all to be committed and to carry out the resolution with sincerity saying, “Clean election is God’s mission for Christianity.”
The meeting concluded with a mass sprayer.
