
A day after it served a seven-day deadline demanding the removal of deputy commissioner (DC) Kiphire, AK Ranjan, the United Sangtam Likhüm Pümji (USLP) on Wednesday declared non-cooperation to the Kiphire district administration until the DC was removed.
In an order, USLP president T. Seopi Sangtam directed all Sangtams under Kiphire district to not extend any from of cooperation towards the administration until the state government removes the DC.

United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) of Kiphire district has strongly condemned DC Kiphire AK Ranjan for allegedly displaying complete lack of self-respect by verbally abusing USLP general secretary, who raised genuine issue on behalf of the people during the Aspirational District Committee meeting held at the DC’s office chamber on January 22.
USSC vice president Sethrongba Y Yingbithongrü urged the State government to take cognizance of the “unforgivable incident” and ensure that voice of the people prevailed by initiating strong action against the perpetrator for the unwarranted act within the stipulated time as demanded by USLP.
While extending full support to USLP’s demand, it also urged all heads of departments and government servants to restrain themselves while dealing with fellow beings and not to resort to acts that would harm the peaceful environment of the society.
KDBU: Kiphire District GBs’ Union too has strongly condemned the reprehensible act of DC Kiphire against USLP general secretary during the Aspirational District Committee meeting for raising matter of public importance. Union’s president C Selitong in a release urged the State government to take the matter seriously and adopt punitive measures to remedy the wrong. It also extend full support to the demand of USLP for removal of the DC.
SVC: In a press note, Singrep Village Council (SVC) through A. Island Peace Yangthsaba strongly condemned the “despicable attitude” DC Kiphire towards USLP general secretary during the ‘Aspirational District’ meeting.
SVC said it unanimously resolved to stand by USLP’s demand for removal of the DC within seven days. It further urged the authority concern “to check the drawal of any fund by the incumbent DC Kiphire during his tenure” alleging that he was “likely to play mischief to empty our district fund and vanish.” SVC warned of stern action if their appeal was not taken into consideration.
