A handing and taking over program of the United Sangtam Likhum Pumji (USLP) new team elected for the tenure 2019-2022, was held at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall in Kiphire Hq.
Thanking the outgoing team on behalf of the incoming team, Seopi Sangtam, president USLP appealed to the former officials to render their help and guidance in the future.
“I love and revere the rich and proud history of Sangtams and I am determined to take our best tradition into the future. But with respect, we need to build a bridge to the future and that is what I commit to you, to do”, Seopi stated.
Assuring the gathering that he will work for the overall progress of society, Seopi added “let us resolve to build that bridge to meet our challenges and protect our values”.
Speaking on behalf of the outgoing team, former USLP president, Yanghopi Sangtam said that during the past four years as president he had witnessed the power of faith and the quiet dignity of working people in the face of struggle.
He added that change only happens when ordinary people get involved, get engaged and come together to demand for it.
The new USLP team for the tenure 2019-2022 will be led by Seopi Sangtam, president and P. Achumse Sangtam as general secretary.
The program was chaired by Lithrongpi Sangtam, invocation offered by S. Chopongkyu Sangtam, pastor Kiphire Town Baptist Lithro, and a welcome address was delivered by K. Tsilise Sangtam, V/P USLP.
