United Sangtam Students Conference (USSC) has expressed serious concern over transfer of a number of teachers from schools within the Sangtam jurisdiction without the appointment of relievers.
In a representation to principal director school education through DC Kiphire, USSC president Adekhing I Sangtam and general secretary Tsathrongli T Sangtam affirmed their strong opposition to “such unfair practices.” USSC said such actions posed a serious threat to the academic progress and overall development of students. The student body has therefore urged the department to address the matter with urgency and ensure that no teacher was transferred without a proper replacement in place. USSC affirmed that it would not permit the issuance of any release orders concerning the those teachers from the district.
In the event of the department undertaking any actions that contravened the position of USSC, the conference warned that appropriate measures would be initiated and the department would “bear full responsibility” for consequences. It expressed hope that the department would consider its appeal on priority and take the necessary steps to address its grievances.
