United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) serves ultimatum on health and family welfare (H&FW)

United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC) has served an ultimatum on the health and family welfare (H&FW) department to immediately redeploy medical superintendent (MS), medical officers (MOs), nurses and other medical staff transferred without relievers under Kiphire district and Longkhim-Chare within 15 days.
In a representation to principal director H&FW, USSC vice president Sethrongba Y Sangtam and general secretary Lumpili Sangtam stated that MS, MOs, nurses, and other medical staff have been transferred to other districts without their replacement or reliever.
USSC said transfer without reliver has created a significant shortage of medical staff in the district adversely affecting healthcare services and patient care.
USSC also stated that District Hospital Kiphire (DHK) had been operating without a MS for two-three months.
USSC has, therefore, appealed to the responsible authority to expedite the genuine pressing issue and deploy the required employees.
Failure of the department to meet the demands within the stipulated period, USSC cautioned that the officer in charge of the department would be held solely responsible and accountable for any citizen’s deaths “resulting from substandard medical care.”
