A 36-year-old under trial prisoner (UTP) died while in Central jail on Monday morning. Police sources said that the victim, identified as one Gopal Sonar, reportedly died of breathing problem. Police said that Sonar was declared brought dead to District Hospital Dimapur around 3.30 a.m.
Police said a magisterial inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of death and while inquest proceedings have been initiated. The victim, who was booked under POCSO Act, was undergoing trail for nearly a year.
