Various organisations condemn robbery incident at Kohima

Lazami Village Council (LVC), Lazami Social Welfare Organization Kohima (LSWOK), Lazami Students Union (LSU), Mishilimi Union Kohima (MUK), Mishilimi Village Council (MVC) and  Mishilimi Student’s Union (MSU) have condemned the robbery case of July 22 at Kohima. 

LVC, LSWOK, LSU: In a joint press release by LVC chairman P. Saluvi Swu, LSWOK president Ngukato K. Tsuipu and LSU president Khuvishe Sema stated that, it was disheartening that two out of the five accused were from Lazami village, thereby bringing bad reputation upon the village image. 

While putting on record that such shameful act was against ethical code and not promoted by any village or tribe, the joint release stated that, the unscrupulous act of the accused were unacceptable and totally uncalled for and shall not be tolerated.

It also appreciated the prompt action of the police in apprehending the culprits and strongly appeal to the law enforcing agency to punish the thieves as per the law of the land. 

MUK: Mishilimi Union Kohima (MUK) has condemned the involvement of Qhevishe Sheqi of Mishilimi village and a resident of Pughoboto town, who was involved in the robbery case.  

A press release from MUK general secretary Kanito Sheqi and vice president, Akato Wotsa, stated that Qhevishe was not a member of MUK but the commission of crime had tarnished the image of all Mishilimi people and Sümi’s in general before the Nagas.  MUK stated that it was deeply hurt by the tarnishing of its good image and warned anyone from indulging in or associating with such criminal activities. While such dastardly criminal action should end with the present case, MUK also cautioned that stringent action would be initiated against any member from bringing shame upon the good image of MUK.

MVC, MSU: Mishilimi Village Council (MVC) chairman Khulu Wotsa and Mishilimi Student’s Union (MSU) president Pihoto H. Sheqi in a condemnation stated that, very often respectable persons from Mishilimi in particular and Aphuyemi & Sümis in general have to hang their heads in shame due to such wayward individuals. Council and union said it was time for all Nagas to work and eat from the sweat of their own brow, become self-reliant, productive and give up such “parasites habit.” It also appreciated the Kohima Police for their prompt action in arresting the culprits involved and demanded that the accused should be denied bail and awarded exemplary punishment so as to discourage such act in future.
