Various organisations continue to donate towards needy people

With the extension of the nationwide lockdown for another two weeks, various organisations continue to reach out with relief supply to alleviate the plight of the needy people in different districts of the state. 

BJYM Nagaland state unit: Nagaland state unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in a coordinated effort have identified families in need across different districts and provided relief materials and also provided meals to migrant workers. The state BJYM has also coordinated with its counterpart in others states and were able to help hundreds of stranded students outside the state. Meanwhile, a group of six young school-going boys from Lhomithi Colony, Dimapur collected their savings which enabled them to purchase three bags of rice and contributed the same towards the initiative of BJYM. 
STMS, MGM, MGOS Church: St. Thomas Mission Society (STMS), MGM institutions and MGOS Church extended relief of essential food commodities to 100 families in and around Midland Dimapur. The team led by Rev. Fr. Dr. P.S Varghese, principal, MGM Higher Secondary School, Dimapur distributed ration to identified families. Fr. Varghese informed that it 100 families were covered in the first phase. 
SHGs and VLOs of Bhandari block: Various SHGs and VLOs under NSRLM-RD Bhandari block, Wokha district, have been extending services like providing firewood, fresh fruits and vegetables for the police personnel on duty in the villages. The groups have provided essential items such as face mask, hand sanitiser, as well as food items and soap to over 150 households. Altogether, over 400 village households have been the recipients. NSRLM-VLO social action committees that were present or engaged in the distribution of the essential items include AWWs, ASHA workers, VLO presidents, VF cum MBK, community cadres and SHGs members.
SSUB and SFB assist: Sumi Students’ Union Bengaluru (SSUB) in collaboration with Sumi Fellowship Bengaluru (SFB) has extended assistance to Sumi community stranded in Bengaluru since April 5. A press release from SSUB president Aloto Chishi and SFB pastor Piketoli Kinimi stated that more than three hundred fifty Sumis were facilitated during this period.
