Various organs to donate medical equipment to Mon district

REC foundation to donate equipment worth Rs. 1.46 cr

In a move that would augment facilities at District Hospital, Mon, Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) Foundation will donate medical equipment worth approximately Rs 1.64 crore to the hospital.
According to deputy commissioner (DC) Mon Thavaseelan K a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) has been executed between REC Foundation, District Hospital, Mon and Mon deputy commissioner (DC) in this regard.
The project will be fully funded by REC under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme. A Project Implementation Committee consisting of representatives from REC Foundation, doctors from District Hospital, Mon and officers from Mon district administration has been constituted to oversee the implementation of the project.
And after due deliberation with the doctors of the District Hospital, the committee finalised procurement and installation of 49 different advanced medical equipment. An open tender would be shortly published by the DC office soon, whose copy could be obtained by interested parties from the office or on the official district website: https://www.mon.nic.in.
IOC to donate Rs. 40 lakh worth equipment
Under the initiative of Mon district administration Mon, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) Ltd would be donating medical equipment worth approximately Rs 40 lakh to Community Health Centres (CHC) at Aboi and Tobu in Mon district.
In a press note, deputy commissioner Mon Thavaseelan K said that a memorandum of agreement (MOA) was executed among IOC Ltd, DC office and District Coordination Committee (DCC) represented by Mon chief medical officer (CMO) in this regard.
The procurement of medical equipment is to strengthen healthcare services at the two CHCs. The project will be fully funded by IOC as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme, while the DC office and DCC will oversee its implementation.
An ECG machine, haematology analyser, biochemistry analyser, dental x-ray and a portable x-ray machine with digital CR system will be provided to Aboi and Tobu CHCs. Crypto Relief, SELCO Foundation partner with Mon administration
In a major boost to healthcare institutions in Mon district, Crypto Relief and SELCO Foundation are partnering with the district administration in providing them integrated solar energy solutions.
DC Mon informed that the partnership between the state government represented by district administration of Mon, Crypto Relief and SELCO Foundation seeks to create a scalable model for health facilities to become more resilient to future emergencies and well-equipped to meet the needs of the remotest and poorest communities in Nagaland.
As part of an initial pilot over a three-month period, Mon DC office informed that four health centres in Mon were solar powered with co-funding from the local elected members.
Building on the success of this effort, the current project has integrated solar energy solutions and efficient medical equipment across 55 healthcare facilities in the Mon district. The release said the initiative was directly in line with the Nagaland National Health Mission’s commitment to ensuring timely health services to people in rural, remote and under-served regions across the state.
DC Mon office stated that communities in Mon district face challenges of difficult terrain, remoteness, vulnerability to climate risks and natural disasters.
It said the communities would greatly benefit from solar energy that can power critical healthcare services including immunization, maternal care, deliveries, diagnostics and contribute to increasing monitoring and vaccination that can curtail the spread of COVID 19.
Being part of the programme from inception, DC Mon, Thavaseelan K said the district was grateful to SELCO Foundation and Crypto Relief for providing integrated solar energy solutions at 55 Health Units including the District Hospital at a cost of approximately Rs 2.86 crores. He said healthcare service delivery would acquire a new meaning forthwith and that the team at SELCO Foundation understood the energy needs of the healthcare system, assessed the gaps and created an effective solution for basic healthcare services.
