
Government Middle School (GMS), Phesama celebrated its centenary on November 2 and Holy Angels School (HAS) Tuensang its silver jubilee on November 2 in their respective schools.
GMS Phesama: The centenary celebration of the Government Middle School (GMS) Phesama was held at Phesama village, Kohima district on Saturday.
Youth Resources & Sports Advisor Zale Neikha giving solidarity note during the occasion applauded the far sighted vision of the forefathers in setting up the school.
He also reiterated that the coming of Christianity ushered in the arrival of education and maintained that teachers need to be acknowledged. The advisor observed that the village also bears blessings in the form of many avenues and amenities naming its proximity to town, good land and water resources as advantageous means of business for economic upliftment.
He also impressed the students community, teachers and parents to be prepared for the very competitive times as today and also come of age to differentiate ones capabilities and talents and pursue it best to refine it in a early stage.
Rev. Fr. Arul Susai SJ, Principal, St Paul School Phesama sharing greetings also suggested that the schools and colleges should focus on human formation of life rather than the mere accumulation of knowledge.
Seyievilie Peter Zashümo, convener, organising committee informed that it was Kruzolie Nakhro of Jotsoma village, who was the first government appointee deputed to the village in 1919.
Earlier in the programme, the unveiling of the monolith and the releasing of the souvenir was done by Er. Zale Neikha.

HAS Tuensang: Deputy Commissioner Tuensang, Mohammed Ali Shihab graced the silver jubilee celebration of Holy Angel School (HAS) Tuensang at its school campus on November 2 as the special guest.
According to DIPR report, speaking on the occasion Ali congratulated the founding members of the institution and also exhorted the faculty to change the mindset with the changing scenario of the educational system.
He also encouraged the students to face the challenges in life, work hard with a competitive outlook to achieve in life.
Short speech was also given by Nungsanglemba Chang president CKS and Holy Angels School Alumni Association.
