VAT organises orientation for health workers

A two-day orientation programme on Vitamin A was organised by Vitamin Angels Team, technical partner of National Health Mission Nagaland, for Community Health Officers, Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) and Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) coordinators of Wokha district on October 27-28 at the Conference Hall of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Wokha.

A press release from the CMO Wokha office informed that consultant for North East region, Vitamin Angels, Swapan Das said the goal of the training was to enhance competent delivery of Vitamin A supplement to children between 6 to 59 months and deworming tablets to 12 to 59 months in the district.

State programme officer, Rajasthan, Vitamin Angels, Guru Prasad took session on the basics of Vitamin A, Vitamin A deficiency, soil transmitted helminthes basics, sanitation, age-appropriate VAS doses, albendazole doses and frequency. 

He urged the health workers to impart the knowledge gained from the training to their colleagues at respective health centres. 

The four-member team also conducted pre-tests, question and answer sessions and practical demonstrations for the trainees. 

Earlier, deputy CMO Wokha, Dr. Zuben Kikon welcomed the Vitamin Angels Team in the district and encouraged the trainees to be attentive during the training sessions.
