DIMAPUR: In a major step towards sustainable agriculture, the department of Soil and Water Conservation, Mokokchung has developed 35 units of vermicompost structures in Ungma village under the CSLDP 2025 26, funded by NABARD.
As part of the initiative, an awareness programme on vermiculture was conducted at the DSCO conference hall for selected beneficiaries to equip them with proper management techniques. Following the session, high quality vermi worms were distributed to kick start organic production.
Experts highlighted that vermicompost is far superior to traditional farmyard manure (FYM) and other conventional organic inputs, as it improves soil health, enhances crop yield and retains moisture more effectively. Farmers in the region were strongly encouraged to adopt vermiculture practices to promote eco friendly farming and boost sustainable crop productivity.
