A 750-meter, Vertical Garden in Kohima, implemented under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) by Kohima Forest Division, was inaugurated on Thursday.
Stretching from Classic Island Junction to Box Cutting Junction, 600 air purifier plants were placed along the footpath to provide air quality. However, it was reported that pots and flowers have been stolen, prompting the department to appeal to the public to refrain from theft.
During the event, PCCF & HoFF, Department of Forests, Environment & Climate Change, Dharmendra Prakash also launched a QR code.
He announced the department’s participation in the Hornbill Festival for the first time, emphasizing its role as a supplement to higher power’s care. Stressing the lasting impact, he called for efforts for facility enhancement, maintenance, and security, hinting at future developments.
Under NCAP, various departments, including RD, District Administration, KMC, PHED, Urban Development, and Transport, received work allocations.
Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Nagaland, focuses on creating green cover, with Urban Greening and Vertical Garden as components, aiming to mitigate air pollution through air purifier plants. Earlier, pastor, Viswema Baptist Church, Rev. Lodiho Thapo blessed the program by invoking God’s blessing.
