Vevoyi Wideo, a youth leader and former student activist from Nagaland, has been appointed as national vice president of the National People’s Party (NPP) for the 2025–2028 tenure. The announcement was made on April 17 as part of the party’s newly reconstituted national executive.
The national committee will be led by Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K. Sangma, who continues as the National President. James P.K. Sangma (Meghalaya) has been named national working president, while Dr. Mehtab A. Sangma (MLA, Meghalaya) will serve as the party’s Treasurer.
Other national vice presidents include Agatha K. Sangma (Meghalaya), S.L. Kol (Madhya Pradesh), and Pesi Jilen (MLA, Arunachal Pradesh). The party’s national general secretaries include Paknga Bage (Org) from Arunachal Pradesh and Abhaya Kashyap (Law & Administration) from Delhi.
The list of national secretaries includes Tapi Darang (MLA, Arunachal Pradesh), Dr. M. Ampareen Lyngdoh (MLA, Meghalaya), Samuel Sumi (Nagaland), and Saidul Khan (Meghalaya).
Additionally, the national executive committee members from across the Northeast included Washi Yalem, Yura Mary, Namgey Tsering (MLA), Santa Mary Shylla (MLA), Grace Mary Kharpuri, Pyniaid Sing Syiem, Ratika Yumnam, W. (O) Sumati Devi, Maibam Dhanabir Singh, Sazad Bhuiya, Janghemlung Panmei (MLA), Avitso Lcho, and Philip Lam.
Following the announcement, NPP Phek district congratulated Wideo on his appointment. The district unit termed it a “strategic move” to empower emerging leaders and expand the party’s presence in Nagaland.
Highlighting Wideo’s active role in the last State Assembly election and his background in student and youth movements, the unit described him as a leader with proven dedication and potential.
