ICAR Nagaland Centre, Medziphema, in collaboration with Veterinary Field Assistant Training Institute Medziphema, organized five-day training programme for Veterinary Field Assistant (VFA) students.
A press release by ICAR Nagaland Centre, Medziphema informed that speaking on the valedictory day, principal, VFATI, Medziphema, Dr H Inato Jimomi, said that it was the first time that VFA students were exposed to modern livestock technologies developed by ICAR Nagaland Centre.
He urged the students to take pig and poultry as business opportunities after completion of their diploma.
Joint director, ICAR Nagaland Centre, Dr H Kalita, encouraged the students to come up with new solutions in field of animal husbandry and said that Nagaland would be self-sufficient in animal source food when all stakeholders jointly work together.
Meanwhile, students were given hands on exposure to scientific management of pig and poultry, with theoretical lectures as well as practical demonstration on pig and poultry. Artificial insemination technology in pig was also shown to the students and were also exposed to biosecurity maintenance at animal farm.
The training was coordinated by Scientist, Dr Mahak Singh and ACTO KVK Dimapur, Dr Ebibeni Nguillie. All together 70 VFA students attended the training programme in two batches.
