Vijaya Bank organizes ‘mega SHG & agricultural credit campaign’

Vijaya Bank, Kohima Branch in association with Entrepreneurs Associates (EA) organized a “mega Self Help Group (SHG) and agricultural credit campaign” on June 28 at Thetsumi Village, Phek District. 
Addressing the needs of the people, CEO, EA Neichute Doulo explained the concept of micro credit through SHG movement and the initiative of the bank.
He also described the positive approach of the bank in reaching the unreached and bank’s expertise in credit linkage at the doorsteps of the rural poor.  
In a keynote address  chief manager Vijaya Bank, Kohima R S Mishra who said that the practical experiences shared by the members was deeply valuable and would be the benchmark of taking the SHG movement in Nagaland to a much higher level. 
 He also highlighted the importance of credit in changing the life style of people and in nutshell presented various credit facilities available in banks
A total amount of Rs.53.10 lakhs was disbursed by the bank for SHG loans to 15 different SHGs nurtured by Entrepreneurs Associates totaling 197 members. 
The members shared their experience of their journey during the last seven years from the date of formation to the stage of generation of income through economic activities and other micro enterprises. 
They also shared the cascading effect of SHG movement which has significantly elevated their status both socially and economically. 
The programme concluded with the demonstration of agriculture and handloom products by SHGs. Altogether 250 farmers participated in the programme.
