Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament in Longleng, Peren

District-Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament (VBYP) 2026 was conducted in Longleng and Peren districts, engaging young participants on the theme “50 Years of Emergency: Lessons for Indian Democracy.”
At Yingli Government College, Longleng, the NSS Wing organised the youth parliament on February 27. Eight students from across the district took part in an elocution competition. Hentong secured the first rank, followed by Rozichem in second place and Chuthai L. Phom in third.
The programme was graced by Imkongnukla Ao, EAC Longleng HQ, with Hitesh Kumar, District Youth Officer, and Imlichuba Phom, NYV Longleng also present. Dr. T. Temsu Imti, Principal of Yingli College, delivered the welcome address, while Associate Professor Dr. Mahabir Jha gave the keynote address. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. B. Henshet Phom, Vice-Principal. Over 205 students and NSS volunteers attended the programme.
Meanwhile, in Peren district, the VBYP was held on February 28 at St. Xavier College, Jalukie, organised by the NSS Unit of the college with support from the college authority under the guidance of principal Dr. Fr. Francis S. Cheerangal and NSS Nodal Officer Adani Siba, in association with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and My Bharat.
The programme brought together participants from Peren Government Colleges and St. Xavier College to deliberate on democratic values, constitutional safeguards, and civic responsibility.
A total of 22 students participated, out of which five were selected to represent Peren district at the State-Level Youth Parliament.
Organisers in both districts expressed confidence that the selected participants would represent their districts with distinction, while highlighting the importance of such platforms in strengthening democratic participation among the youth.
