Top Class Contractor of Nagaland, Vilelie Khamo was conferred with the 13th Classic Award 2018 in recognition of his philanthropic contributions during the 24th Foundation Day 2018 at Hotel Japfu, Kohima on October 2.
According to DIPR report, Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker, Vikho-o Yhoshü graced the occasion as the special invitee and advisor for Rural Development, Dr. Nicky Kire, dignitaries and well-wishers also attended the programme.
NLA Speaker, Vikho-o Yhoshu handed over the award to Velilie Khamo. In his speech, he lauded Vilelie Khamo for his philanthropic contributions towards the upliftment of the lesser privileged community. He said, Vilelie Khamo’s life was an example and an inspiration, with yeomen and unparalleled social services. Yhoshü described Khamo as a “self-made man who worked hard, doing things that others did not want to do, to becoming a man of humility, peace and wisdom”. “From a humble background, who had struggled and coming up against all odds today, despite of the status he had earned, he still remains the same-down to earth, with the wisdom of the ages. His benevolence and charities transcend beyond human borders and definitions. His life is the greatest inspiration and encouragement to all of us and the coming generations. We all are fortunate to have him in our lifetime,” Yhoshü stated.
Yhoshü also congratulated the Classic Club for rendering numerous services to the society and with it’s motto “Aiming Higher”. He said that the recipients of the Classic Award so far spoke volumes of the standard, value, recognition and responsibilities associated with the award.
In his acceptance speech, Vilelie Khamo said he was deeply humbled and grateful for being selected for the highly acclaimed award. He expressed that while he always stuck to the motto “what you do should speak for you”, there had been challenges and he failed many a times. However, stating he would treasure the recognition, Khamo asserted that he would always use the award as an “alarm and guidance compass”.
The president Classic Club, Neibou Sekhose in his presidential address stated that the ceremony of the award was organized on the 24th foundation day of the club and as a launching event for a yearlong silver jubilee celebration of the club. He said that the Classic Award was instituted in the year 1999 with an objective to encourage the people whether individual or organization excelling in various fields with cash award and citation. Sekhose informed that 12 prominent persons have been awarded in various fields. The Classic Club also marked the launch of its celebration by donating Rs.50,000 to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
