On account of World Environment Day, council chairmen and VDB secretaries of villages under Changtongya Beat took “Green Pledge” at the event held at Changtongya Beat Office on June 1.
The village leaders have affirmed to conserve water and energy, avoid use of polythene, segregate waste for recycling and plant trees during special occasions. On the occasion around 500 poly bags for saplings were also distributed to all the villages.
At the programme, a short message was delivered by Forest Ranger Changtongya, Moamongba, who highlighted on the need and importance of an eco-friendly village.
The programme was organized by Mokokchung Forest Division under Changtongya Beat in collaboration with the Rural Department.
