KOHIMA, AUG 15 (NPN): Vineyard School and Northfield School emerged champions in the boys’ and girls’ team events respectively at the 15th Kohima District Table Tennis-cum-4th Inter-School Championship 2026, held from August 14 to 15.
The championship saw participation from nine schools, namely Azedon School, G. Rio School, Vineyard School, Northfield School, Living Tree School, Genesis School, Mt. Sinai School, Holy Family School and Assam Rifles Public School. In the boys’ team event, Vineyard School secured the championship, followed by Azedon School in second place and Genesis School in third. G. Rio School also competed in the event.
In the girls’ team event, Northfield School emerged champion, with Vineyard School finishing runner-up and Azedon School taking third place. G. Rio School also featured in the girls’ team event. In the individual categories, Seyievilie Seyie won the men’s singles title, defeating Meyinukshi L.K.R., who finished runner-up. In the women’s singles, Thejavinuo Rio emerged champion, while Vichaduonuo Rame secured the second position.
The men’s doubles title went to the pair of G. Hekito Sumi and Meyinukshi Longkumer, while Mhasiv Miachieo and Thejavinuo Rio finished runners-up.
In the veterans’ category, Neitsilie Meru won the veterans singles title, with Zayie Savi finishing second. The veterans doubles title was claimed by Moalong and Kaka, while Zayie Savi and Raju Chettri finished runners-up. Among the junior categories, Kethokul Soleho won the Under-17 boys’ singles title, followed by Melesa Doulo in second place.
Vilenu Sophie emerged champion in the Under-17 girls’ singles, with Samsangna Nsarangbe finishing runner-up. In the Under-15 girls’ singles, Niepusi Dzuvichü secured the first position, while Vilasenu Soleho finished second. The Under-15 boys’ singles title was won by Rhode John, with Keneisevor Sophie finishing runner-up.
In the Under-13 boys’ singles, Keneisevor Sophie emerged champion, while Kethoseto Daniel Soleho took the second position.
The Under-13 girls’ singles title went to Vilasenu Soleho, with Ruopfuvinuo Sote finishing runner-up.
The championship provided a platform for players across senior, veterans and junior categories, besides giving school players an opportunity to compete at the district level.
With the inclusion of the inter-school team events alongside individual and veterans categories, the two-day championship showcased participation across different age groups and highlighted the growing involvement of schools in table tennis in Kohima district.
