VKSA benefits over 13K farmers

The ongoing Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) campaign has benefitted more than 13,000 farmers across Chümoukedima, Dimapur, and Niuland districts since its launch on May 29, 2025.
Organized by KVK Dimapur in collaboration with Nagaland’s Agriculture and allied departments, the campaign has reached 132 villages in just 11 days, helping farmers access improved agricultural technologies and essential knowledge.
Four teams comprising KVK scientists, ICAR Nagaland researchers, ICAR-NRC on Mithun scientists, professors from Central Agricultural University (CAU, Jalukie), and officials from Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary, Land Resource, Fishery, and NSRLM departments have been actively conducting outreach programs.
The campaign has raised awareness on key farming topics, including livestock vaccination to prevent Foot and Mouth disease, integrated farming systems, crop diversification, pest management, and production techniques for rice and maize.
Farmers have also received guidance on addressing local challenges such as fall armyworm infestations, livestock disease outbreaks, irrigation issues, and limited access to farming machinery.
During the campaign, teams have educated farmers on scientific methods for rearing mithun and pigs, as well as the benefits of artificial insemination.
Officials have also encouraged farmers to take advantage of government schemes such as PM-KISAN, Soil Health Card, SMAM, NMEO, NMSA, PKVY, and PMKSY, among others, whenever health camps are organized in villages.
The campaign emphasizes soil health, advising farmers to assess their soil before planting, address soil acidity, and adopt vermicomposting to recycle farm waste and improve crop nutrition. VKSA aims to continue supporting farmers by addressing existing challenges and introducing advanced agricultural techniques in the coming days.
