More than 2,500 farmers in Kiphire district have benefited from the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) programme, which was launched on May 29. The initiative was jointly organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kiphire, and the Agriculture & Allied Departments.
The programme ran for three days—May 29, 30, and 31—covering three blocks in the district and reaching thousands of farmers. Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire, Temsuwati, who inaugurated the event, praised the initiative and highlighted its role in empowering farmers in remote areas.
He noted that the campaign aims to double farmers’ income by increasing awareness, introducing new technology, and improving access to government schemes.
Dr. L. Jyoti Bordoloi, Head & Senior Scientist of KVK Kiphire, welcomed dignitaries and participants, assuring that VKSA would be effectively implemented.
He emphasized that expert teams are working closely with farmers at the grassroots level to provide insights into advanced farming techniques and beneficial agricultural schemes.
Experts from KVK and various departments engaged farmers in discussions on climate-resilient agriculture, integrated farming systems, natural farming practices, and government schemes such as PM-Kisan and crop insurance.
Beyond education, the programme provided farmers a platform to express their concerns. Officials documented grievances related to seed availability, irrigation challenges, and market access, ensuring necessary follow-ups. VKSA has strengthened coordination between government departments and farming communities, bringing expert advice directly to farmers.
The campaign is expected to continue addressing key agricultural issues and improving livelihoods across the district.
