VKSA campaign empowers farmers in Kohima, Tseminyu

The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA), led by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, continued its outreach on the sixth day in Kohima and Tseminyu districts. The campaign is implemented through the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) in partnership with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVKs), ICAR institutes, State Agricultural Universities (SAUs), Central Agricultural Universities (CAUs), and state governments. The goal is to reach 1.5 crore farmers across 700 districts by June 12, 2025, promoting awareness, education, and scientific agricultural practices.
In Kohima and Tseminyu, farmers and scientists engaged in open discussions about agricultural methods and technologies. Experts shared knowledge, addressed concerns, and developed solutions tailored to farmers’ needs.
According to report by Principal Scientist& Head, KVK Kohima, team one led discussions on Integrated Farming Systems, improved crop production, animal health management, vaccination, organic farming, soil testing, pest control, and climate-resilient technologies.
While team two emphasized collaboration, innovation, and resilience in agriculture, motivating farmers to adopt sustainable and progressive practices, especially in rainfed areas and team three focused on efficient fertilizer use, Kharif crop techniques, pest control, and organic farming.
Despite heavy rain, the campaign continued under the theme “One Nation, One Agriculture, One Team.” Led by KVK Kohima (Tseminyu) and supported by ICAR Nagaland Centre, NRC on Mithun, CAU Jalukie, and the State Agriculture & Allied Departments, teams successfully covered 53 villages across 8 blocks, sensitizing 5,646 farmers (3,046 men and 2,600 women).
Experts educated farmers on soil health, modern agricultural practices, water conservation, climate resilience, composite fish culture, vermi-composting, Integrated Farming Systems, animal health, vaccination, and government schemes.
