DIMAPUR

Kiphire and Longleng districts participated in the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA), reaffirming their commitment to sustainable agriculture and rural development.
The initiative, launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and guided by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, aims to empower farmers through scientific knowledge, innovation, and inclusive growth strategies.
In Kiphire, the campaign was hosted with advisor S. Kiusumew as the chief guest, who emphasized the essential role of farmers in nation-building. He stressed that for India to achieve Viksit Bharat, farmers must take the lead—not just in agriculture, but in all areas of national development.
Dr. Lahar Jyoti Bordoloi, Head and Senior Scientist at KVK Kiphire, assured continued technical support and training for farmers, highlighting the importance of SHGs, FPOs, and rural youth participation.
A Farmer-Scientist Interaction Session brought together experts, village leaders, and farmers, featuring live demonstrations, climate-smart agricultural training, and success stories. So far, three outreach teams have covered over 80 villages, raising awareness on government schemes and modern farming techniques.
In Longleng, the VKSA campaign has gained remarkable traction, reaching 45 villages in just eight days, with over 11,051 farmers participating in awareness drives and demonstrations. District Nodal Officer Dr. Hari Charan Kalita, along with ICAR-KVK leadership, has spearheaded efforts with guidance from government officials.
A major event was held on June 6 in Orangkong village, attended by B. Bangtick Phom MLA, president Y. B. Angam, and deputy commissioner W. Manpai Phom. A record 1,432 farmers attended in person, with 2,244 registrations from surrounding areas.
The event reinforced farmers’ trust in KVK Longleng’s initiatives, which focus on scientific pest management, organic farming, livestock care, and agricultural drone technology.
VKSA teams have covered most of Longleng district, with only Tamlu block remaining. Farmers, especially those from remote tribal communities, have enthusiastically adopted natural farming, climate-resilient techniques, and disease prevention strategies.
As VKSA-2025 gains momentum, ICAR-KVK remains committed to bringing science and sustainable solutions to farmers, strengthening their role in India’s agricultural transformation. This was stated in a DIPR report.
