VPP picks Dr. Myrboh for Shillong LS by-poll

Meghalaya’s opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) has recommended the name of Dr. Batskhem Myrboh, an assistant professor of political science at North Eastern Hill University, as its candidates for by-election in Shillong parliamentary constituency.
The by in Shillong parliamentary constituency was necessitated due to the death of sitting MP Ricky Andrew Jones Syngkon while playing futsal at Mawiong on February 19, 2026. “The election committee of the VPP has submitted its recommendation to the State Executive Committee for approval, proposing the name of Dr. Batskhem Myrbohas the party’s candidate for the forthcoming Lok Sabha by-election from the 1-Shillong Parliamentary Constituency,” VPP Spokesperson, Dr. Airpeace Well Rani said.
The Election Commission of India is yet to announce the date for the by-election to fill the vacant Shillong seat.
