DIMAPUR, OCT 6 (NPN): NSCN (I-M) deputy ato kilonser ‘Lt. Gen.’ (Retd) V.S. Atem and special emissary to the collective leadership R.H. Raising have retracted their remarks against former Nagaland chief minister and former governor Dr. S.C. Jamir following a 15-day ultimatum issued by the Ao Senden.
In a joint declaration dated October 6, Atem and Raising stated that their remarks were never intended to hurt the sentiments of the Ao Senden.
“If our comments on 16th September 2026 on Dr. S.C Jamir have hurt the sentiment of the Ao Senden, it was never meant to do so and therefore, we do retract it forthright,” the joint declaration stated.
The retraction comes after the apex Ao body, on September 23, issued a 15-day ultimatum to Atem and Raising to withdraw their remarks, warning that failure to do so would compel it to take its “own course of action.”
On September 23, NSCN (I-M) leaders had questioned Dr. Jamir’s authority to speak on the Naga political issue, asserting that he was neither authorised nor mandated to represent the Naga people in the ongoing negotiations.
NSCN (I-M) leaders were responding to statements made by Dr. Jamir following his meeting with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in Delhi.
