Western Angami Public Organization (WAPO), Chakhro Angami Kuda Union (CAKU), and Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) Medziphema Circle in a separate press statement have condemned the February 13 incident at Maova village under Medziphema sub-division, where officials and volunteers of the Chakhrho Public Organisation (CPO) were subjected to aggression.
In a press release, WAPO president, Theyievilie Suohumvii and general secretary, Kezhaselie K. Kuotsu, described the act of violence against the CPO president and citizens as “barbaric, disturbing and unacceptable in a civilized society.” It termed the assault as a direct insult not only to the people of Chakhroma but to all, warning that patience and generosity should not be mistaken for weakness. WAPO reaffirmed its commitment to peace, justice and constructive engagement, while urging communities to resolve differences through dialogue rather than violence.
CAKU media cell, also expressed dismay over the behavior of Maova villagers, noting that even the CPO president was physically pushed during the confrontation. The union termed the act as insolence and reminded the village of the benevolence extended by the Chakhrho community in the past. Extending solidarity, CAKU conveyed wishes for the speedy recovery of EAC Medziphema, injured IRB personnel, and CYO volunteers.
Meanwhile, CPO Medziphema Circle condemned the actions of certain youths under the supervision of the Village Council chairman and Gaon Bura, calling them “unacceptable, disgraceful and contrary to all standards of decency and ethical conduct.” The organisation said the incident undermined community values of respect, unity and integrity, and strongly denounced the injuries inflicted upon EAC Medziphema sub-division, and IRB personnel who had arrived to pacify the situation.
It urged every Naga to collectively condemn such atrocities and work towards eradicating such conduct for a better future.
