A delegation of Western Angami Public Organisation (WAPO) along with minister of Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse called on chief minister, Dr. Neiphiu Rio on March 10, 2025 and congratulated him on being conferred honorary doctorate by North East Christian University (NECU) Dimapur.
In a press release, WAPO president, Kepelhoutuo Chusi appreciated the NECU for the remarkable gesture and conferment and said that Dr.Rio deserve the degree for his exceptional contributions towards uplifting the Naga society.
WAPO described Dr. Rio as a “true democratic leader” who listens to the voices of the mass and the mass-based civil societies and takes decision in “holistic manner” exhibiting his political acumen.
Apart from his “political navigation and with lots of critical impediments and hurdles”, Dr. Rio was also the “champion of conservation and preservation of Naga heritage and culture”, WAPO said.
Mentioning that Dr. Rio was the only leader, who brought balanced and a rational development across the state with an attitude of grooming the fragmented Naga society into a unified platform for a common future, the Western Angami Public Organisation said his presence at the helm of the state of affairs provides and aura of safety and security for all.
