Ward-9 councillor urges vigilance amid influx concerns

DIMAPUR, JUL 25 (NPN)

In light of recent reports of influx of evicted immigrants from Assam into various parts of Dimapur, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) Ward-9 councillor Lanutoshi S Yaden has reminded all residents, colony councils, and relevant stakeholders that while the town had always upheld its reputation for being a hospitable and peaceful town, it was equally important to ensure the safety, security, and demographic integrity of local communities.
With specific concerns being raised about the possibility of displaced individuals settling in various colonies, including those under Ward 9, Lanutoshi in a communiqué stressed that a collective and coordinated response was now necessary.
Urging all colony councils and residents under Ward-9 to remain alert and vigilant, he called for reporting immediately to the office of the ward councillor or the nearest police station if any suspicious or unfamiliar individuals or groups were noticed settling without proper verification.
He clarified that this was not a call for fear or discrimination, but rather a preventive and safeguarding measure to maintain law and order, and to avoid any future complications.
As responsible citizens, he stressed standing together in ensuring that the neighbourhoods remained secure, lawful, and respectful of existing settlement regulations.
He also appealed the authorities concerned to carry out necessary verification drives to address this issue at the earliest. He called for continuing to work together for peace, progress, and harmony of Ward-9 and Dimapur as a whole.
