WASU holds biennial general conference at Khonoma village

The 41st biennial general conference of Western Angami Students’ Union (WASU) was held at Khonoma village, 17 km away from here, Tuesday with retired additional director SCERT Khrielelie Peseyie as chief guest and Angamimiapfü Mechü Krotho (AMK) advisor Salhoutuonuo Kruse as guest of honour.
Addressing the gathering at the conference, chief guest Khrielelie Peseyie encouraged the students to develop linguistic skills, mathematical skills etc and reminded that unless they had quality education they cannot compete with the rest of the world.
He challenged the student community to prepare well in different skills at a young age for their future.
Further, chief guest advised the young students to limit themselves in social activities and not to be obsessed with expensive goods.
Khonoma village council secretary Kevisekho Chücha, in his address, said student life was the time to prepare for a lifetime of economic and social well-being. He added that who did not use time and opportunity wisely would regret later in life.
Also, speaking at the conference, Western Angami gazetted Officer Krotho (WAGOK) president Kepelhouto Chüsi said student body was the best investment body having no limit of power to work for the society. He advised the students to develop and cultivate moral life, wise management of time and avoid wrong food habits and develop sense of cleanliness.
Further, he stressed on the importance of human resource development that control the modern society. Chüsi encouraged the student community to equip themselves in different kinds of discipline and fields.
In his address, WASU president Kedoroko Casavi urged the students gathered to share positive thoughts and ideas with others for the benefit of community and society. Angami students’ Union (ASU) president Zakie Khate also highlighted the activities of ASU.
Programme was led by WASU advisor Rokophrezo Rino, invocation prayer by Baptist Church Khonoma pastor Rev. Tsolie Chase, welcome address was delivered by KSU president Mesasielie Meyase, special songs were presented by Vikhotsono Zhünyü, finalist Naga idol and Visedelhou Terhüja finalist Naga talent promo 2012, and vote of thanks was proposed by WASU speaker Neilhouvilie Senotsu. Around 300 participants from western Angami area participated in the conference.
