Watch tower inaugurated at Chizami

A Wildlife Watch Tower and a Community Resting Shed was inaugurated by the Chief Conservator of Forests, Wepretso and Conservator of Forests, Kocha Meyase, in different locations at Chizami village on April 27.
Both the officers of the Forest Department, who were a part of the high level monitoring committee which was on a two day tour to Phek, thanked the villagers for cooperating with the department in conserving the forests. DFO Phek, Rongsenlemla Imchen, appreciated the village community for their cooperation and stressed on the sustainability of the conservation effort. Village Council Chairman, Chizami village acknowledged the DFO and her staffs for raising environmental awareness amongst the village community and also guiding the community in the implementation of the Biodiversity Conservation Project at Ewu Forest, Chizami.  It is pertinent to mention that Chizami village and 10 other neighbouring villages including Chizami Town had passed a common resolution on October 6, 2014, in regard to Wild Life Crime during a joint consultative meeting with Phek Forest Department.
