WATSAN Committees clarify on JJM

Water and Sanitation (WATSAN) committees from different villages under Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Dimapur Urban Division have clarified that all civil works under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) were being supervised and successfully implemented by respective village WATSAN committees, and were now awaiting release of the pending bills for the works already completed.

Reacting to allegation by Nagaland Transparency Public Rights Advocacy and Direct-Action Organisation (NTPRADAO) against PHED regarding implementation of JJM in Nagaland that appeared in various local dailies on December 15, WATSAN committees cautioned that if the ministry concerned withheld the remaining amount due to them, they would hold NTPRADAO responsible and that all pending bills would have to be borne by them.

Since they had executed and completed the works, the committees declared that under no circumstances they would remain idle and allow the un-mandated organisation to victimise them, or tarnish the image of PHED.

This was stated in a statement issued following an emergency meeting of the WATSAN committee chairmen held here on Monday and issued by WATSAN committee chairmen Pamong Phom (Diphupar), Jubito Yepthomi (Ekranipathar), Mughavi Chishi (Thahekhu), Phoishe Sema (Naharbari), Siekou Angami (Signal Angami), Pulozhol Neikha (Model 5 Mile), Medovikho Neikha (Tenyiphe 2), Vito Achumi (Dubagaon), Mhonjan Lotha (Industrial), Thejangulie (New Chumoukedima B khel), Vekhoto Khami (Toulazouma), K Ado Bizo (Darogapathar), Immaksashi (Unity), M Chuba Ao (Erailibill), Samuel Gangte (Kacharigaon), Kuvotso (Zani), Chenithung Ezung (Senjum), M Obadioh (Samaguri), TS Meren (Kashiram), Temsu (Sangtamtilla), Imtinuken (Aoyimkum), and Puheswar Mech (Naharbari).
