WATSU leads liquor ban enforcement drive in Mangkolemba

DIMAPUR

WATSU Unit (Women’s Organisation), Mangkolemba, Mokokchung, in coordination with the district administration and police, conducted a surprise inspection on July 16 to enforce the Nagaland Liquor Total Prohibition (NLTP) Act.
According to a DIPR report, the inspection targeted shops and hotels suspected of selling liquor illegally. Several businesses were found violating the NLTP Act, and alcoholic beverages worth Rs. 40,000 were confiscated and destroyed. Authorities issued stern warnings to the violators, stating that repeated offenses could result in shop closures and cancellation of licenses.
The drive holds significance due to Mangkolemba’s proximity to Assam, where easy access to liquor has led to increased sale and consumption in the town.
